Description
Education is the great engine of personal development. It is through education that the daughter of a peasant can become a doctor, that the son of a mine worker can become the head of the mine that a child of farm workers can become the president of a great nation. It is what we make out of what we have, not what we are given, that separates one person from another.
NELSON MANDELA
The dream of building safer communities can be realized by mobilizing all stakeholders for the good of society. The Civilian Secretariat for Police Service (CSPS) took an inspiring approach last year by bringing all stakeholders under the National Crime Prevention Summit. This summit saw different stakeholders including experts sharing diverse knowledge on possible mechanism in support of the implementation of 2016 White Paper on Safety & Security.
This Gazette is developed for the growing community of practitioners from civil society, academia and spheres of government who have deep interest in finding sustainable solutions to the problem of violence and crime in South Africa.
