Description
Literature reveals intriguing twist and turns associated with youth culture, identity, leisure activities, career choices and transition into adulthood. The short research, upon which this article is based, shows the often paradoxical nature of lives of impoverished youth in low-income communities, manifest in the many and varied decisions they make. These decisions take the form of looking for jobs and entrepreneurial opportunities to help put food on the table, talking and writing about their experiences, choosing how and when to partake in creational activities that keep them out of trouble, being hopeful or living in despair, or keeping to succumb to drugs or engage in delinquent or criminal activities.
