Project Empower – Organisation
South Africa
KwaZulu-Natal
Durban
Description
Project Empower is focused on strengthening and supporting civil society (both formal and informal organisations of people) responses to HIV and AIDS. It helps people to critically assess the impact of HIV and AIDS in their own lives and the network of relationships that support them. Using the learning from this personal exploration Project Empower helps people to develop contextual responses to the issues they are confronting.
Over the years the Project Empower’s work has evolved into distinct, interrelated programme areas focused on ensuring the sustainability of civil society organisations and developing community and individual resilience to the impact of HIV and AIDS.
The organisations's scope has further expanded to include work with women, focusing on sexual, reproductive and other rights of women and supporting the capacity of women to defend their rights. Project Empower works in Kwazulu-Natal, in informal settlements and two rural areas.
