Description

Play Africa creates groundbreaking, joyful learning environments across Johannesburg where all children and families can play and discover together. As the first "children's museum" in South Africa, we celebrate childhood and provide spaces to imagine, create, explore and learn for the youngest South Africans, as well as the big people who love them.

Play Africa at Constitution Hill celebrates every child's right to play, and to secure environments in which to play, learn and grow. Play Africa at Constitution Hill is home to several rotating exhibits, including our Children's Planetarium, Imagination Playground, Art Studio, Maker Space, Lego and Duplo exhibit, Rigamajig Engineering Exhibit, Fantasy Play, Children's Theatre and more. Together with our partners, we offer unduplicated early childhood development (ECD) and foundation phase learning through play-based educational exhibits and programmes for children aged 0 -10 and their caregivers. We cater to nursery schools and primary schools throughout Gauteng, providing a safe, affordable and stimulating field trip destination.

Our outreach programmes create safe and welcoming environments for play, learning and discovery in public spaces; we create pop-up activations in school halls and school fields, local community centres as well as parks across Johannesburg, in collaboration with partners such as Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo.

We invite everyone who believes in the importance of creating safe play and learning spaces in our country, where children and families can come together to experience the transformative power of play.
