My motivation to join SaferSpaces:

Organisational collaboration, exchange of information about reducing youth crime and violence in South Africa

I'm working in these sectors:

Civil society organisations, Community, NGOs/CBOs, Sport / Recreation

I'm specialising in these theme(s):

Children, Gangs, Prevention concepts, School safety, Youth

I am currently Programme Coordinator for the 'Safer Communities Programme' being piloted in Cape Town, South Africa and Kingston, Jamaica.

The Programme will use a Collective Impact model approach which seeks to have multi-agency delivery partners in one place collectively designing a programme of action to solve a complex problem in a shared-measurement system. Fight For Peace will use its five-pillar prevention pillars to achieve this with delivery partners namely, Boxing & Martial Arts (Sports), Education, Employability, Support Services and Leadership.

I have worked in the youth crime and violence sector for 9 years. I have special interests, in child justice and rights, youth development, crime prevention, rehabilitation and reintegration, prison reform, psycho-social support services, girl and women empowerment, education and youth participation and leadership.
