Mdu Mkhonza – Practitioners

My motivation to join SaferSpaces:

I have been working on Municipal Digital Transformation Programs for the past 10 years. In the past two years, I have been working with GIZ/GOPA on municipal IT/IS Maturity Assessments and Roadmap to Maturity in the Eastern Cape and Mpumalanga Provinces in South Africa.

I am currently conducting training for senior management at the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro on Integrated Development Planning, Community Safety and Violence Prevention features in the plans but lack a community-based approach in order for it to succeed. I have developed a model for engaging communities and stakeholders in order to ensure alignment of individuals/households' vision alignment with the governance structures at the local municipal level. As everything is going digital, I believe I can bring a unique dimension to community safety and crime prevention through developing a digital platform (network) of community safety practitioners at Wrd
