Kay Mahonde – Practitioners

My motivation to join SaferSpaces:

Kay is an alumna of the Be Just Fellowship. She completed her articles at CALS where her areas of interest were sexual violence in schools and access to housing. Much of Kay's work now focuses on the intersection between access to affordable housing, homelessness and domestic violence. She is also interested in the Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) of girls, young women and people with disabilities in South Africa and the region. In pursuance of this interest, Kay is preparing to launch an online platform called Hearten Hub. Hearten Hub was designed to provide access to crowd sourced information on issues relating to SRHR for girls, young women and people with disabilities in South Africa and the region. Kay currently sits on the board of the Uhambo Foundation, an organisation based in Cape Town whose vision is an inclusive society without barriers for children and youth with disabilities.
