Description

Presenting the crime statistics for 2015/2016  that will provide us as South Africans with a reason and opportunity to review and reflect on our social behavioural patterns . The analysis of the statistics indicate a decline in almost all categories of crime with the exception of contact crimes.. There is a suggestion that in instances where the category of crime can be policed, there is a decline while there is an increase in areas that involve social behavioural patterns that are difficult to monitor and police. The Ministry of Police will continue to ensure that the people of South Africa are and do feel safe. In so doing we will be continuing with the implementation of the broader government strategy, the National Development Plan (NDP). The ministry will continue to implement the Back to Basics approach to policing which has started to yield positive results. The majority of our successes are based on its implementation. The ministry will continue to work in partnership with r communities and other stakeholders to address some of the challenging crimes such as contact crime. Moving forward there is a need to address specific features of ur crime, with a particular focus on mobilising an active citizenry, Inter-Governmental Leadership in this regard with a view to regenerate morality in society.
